Bud Myers Vista,  CA Best helmet I ever owned!!! I wanted a motocross helmet but I also wanted a face shield. I tried another manufacturer’s helmet with both of these features but the helmet didn't fit right. I also like the difference in price. The other helmet was at least $100 more than the Shoei. I highly recommend the Hornet. I also bought the shaded face shield. It's nice but I would like a darker shade as well. If you where shades under your helmet make sure there not polarized, the shield is and you get a rainbow effect when both are used together.

Dwight Ridgecrest,  CA Good, but could be better The tinted shield is better than the clear shield for daylight rides, but here in the desert a darker shield would be better. I have a dark tint shield on my RF-1000 and it does a good job of knocking down the glare and heat. Shoei needs to offer that same tint for the Hornet. Other than that, its a good shield as far as quality and optics are concerned.Swapping out shields on this helmet isn't a quick thing to do, as it involves removing the visor and unscrewing a total of five nylon screws. I guess I'm just spoiled by how quickly I can swap out shields on the RF-1000, particularly for cleaning.
